when i met jamie oliver, i had to ask him if he was keeping seals off the menu - but putting plenty of pilchards on. sadly he didn't have much to say about it, so i went back to the chippy instead.

bear still has some jet lag, so he's slumbering on the sofa in a state of hibearnation. tsk! lazy old so and so. he's only popping off the couch to get some nutella sandwiches.
so here i am again, hanging out with samuel l jackson. it was fun to sneak into to his arm while he was singing 'i'm a little teapot' quite half-heartedly.

doggy bear hug fun!

hello again friends,

i've kept you all on beary tenterhooks while you've been waiting to see who i made friends with... well, all can now be revealed.
there's something in the water! it's my new friend Eugenie, busy fetching sticks

we were being taken for a walk along the banks of the
great Mississippi river... great fun. it was wonderful to go for a run around in the woods.
you can't see me in the below picture cos i was looking for a place to hide, but my nutella gatherer was so busy admiring eugenie's stick fetching tricks that the moment got missed :(
but i was there! and it was a blast!


and then we got home, dried off, cleaned paws, had a snooze and enjoyed a bear/doggy hug.
you couldn't ask for a better end to the trip.
sadly, that's the end of my great bear adventure in the big ol' us of a.
it's been great fun and i've seen things that small bears normally only dream of.

hope i don't get too much jet leg when i get back home.

nutella on toast at the caffe tempo

i really fancied some nutella on toast ... and washed down with a French
Roast Caffe Latte. So i popped down to a great coffee shop Caffe
Tempo on the corner of Grand Avenue and 42nd Street in Minneapolis.
this was a wonderful little spot with friendly people.
not only was i treated like royalty (well, i am a famous bear!) and given great toast and great coffe, but i was also given some hugs from the friendly staff.
oh, and they also had free WiFi, just right for keeping tabs on what's going on at home.

small seal really is hanging out with will smith

oh dear, you can tell that bear doesn't let me update the blog very often. instead of getting to post a picture of me snuggling down to mr will smith, you got jerry springer instead. silly seal. here we are, here's me with will smith! not sure who else we're standing with, but she didn't have much to say for herself so i never did find out. if you know, please me know. i'll have to tell bear.

Reading with Randy...

you'll know by now that bears are usually very cultured, and that means staying abreast of current affairs, even when one is travelling. here i am catching up on a stopover in Minneapolis. the Star Tribune is a great read, but some of the words where a bit big for bears, and as for the size of the paper: well, as you can see, i had to fold it small to take it all in. i'm only a wee bear you know!
thankfully, someone was on hand to help me get to grips with it, none other than Randy, a journalist on that very fine paper.

i loved my time with Randy, as he had some other friends he wanted to introduce me to.

After all the excitement of seeing myself and others in the big beany thing, i decided it was time to returning to my hotel for some r&r.

but i didn't fancy a bear snooze, so i decided to play with my new iPhone and catch up on an episode of Heroes. Very cool :)

small seal's night on the town

as you know, bear has fled the nest for a while in his big bear adventure in chicago. don't think i've not noticed his flirting with anyone and everyone in his quest for a bearhug. just wait till he gets home .... lol!

i decided that rather than stay at home and wait patiently for his safe return, i'd go on my own adventure, to the big smoke. so here i am mingling with the stars. i'll carry on hijacking bear's blog for a few days to let you see who i've met.

to start with, here's me nibbling david beckham's ear while posh spice ignores me.

facebook bear crisis

it's been brought to the attention of many bears on facebook that their accounts are being deleted ruthlessly ... simply bearcause they're bears.
this is a shocking state of affairs. i've made many wonderful new friends on there and suddenly they're starting to dissapear simply bearcause they're cute and furry. what's wrong with us?
i hope facebook stops deleting us ... we'll still want to give them a hug.

bean there, done that...

wow, isn't this a great picture? i think my nutella gatherer did a great job with this. i'm now at the Cloud Gate, a sculpture made of stainless steel and highly polished.

bearcause i'm so wonderful and furry, i managed to convince some innocent bystanders (some are pictured above giving me a bear hug!) to stand in a square while i lay down in the middle and looked up.

explaining opera ... in a thunderstorm

After all the excitement of hiding in the conference ballroom, i decided it was time to go for a stroll and see what Chicago has to offer. It's got a fantastic open air concert hall in the form of the Jay Pritzker Pavilion. And while i was there, there was some opera going on.
it was very exciting because there was a real thunderstorm part way through - which
only added to the drama of the performance but it did mean that everyone got rather wet. well apart from me, as i'm small enough to hide under a seat and stayed bone dry!

Afterwards i managed to get some hugs from some music students who
took the time and trouble to explain the intricacies of the opera story to me. it was very
fascinating - and very cuddly!

where's bear?

i love hiding - can you spot me? a virtual bear hug for the first person to spot me...
i'm somewhere in the the largest ballroom in the United States ... it's the McCormick Place Skyline Ballroom which is a massive 100,000 square feet! The picture shows about a quarter of it and gives plenty of places for a naughty bear to hide.

shiny new toy: the iphone

it's one thing being a technobear that keeps a blog, but quite another to get your paws on the latest gadget. i have to confess that i've wanted to clasp paws on an iphone for a while, if only to see how easy they are to use when you don't have opposable thumbs.

i'm giving it a whirl at the moment, but haven't managed to call small seal on it yet.

she seems to be okay, and is still talking to me (via the hotel phone!) even though i left my alarm clock behind and forgot to turn it off. she woke up several hours earlier that she wanted to. doh!

Early morning blogging

Early morning with jet lag is always a strange time for any bear, but here's the amazing view when the sun came up. it looks oh so calm and peaceful!

One of the first things i had to do was to check my blog - whilst eating breakfast complete with a bear-sized bottle of ketchup. they like to do things in style over here!

Checking out the hotel room to see if its bear friendly

Well, i'm here safely, travelling thousands of miles: it's the furtherst this bear has ever been!

as you can imagine, it was a long and tiring journey so the very first thing this bear had to do was to check in to check out the hotel room.
Some Bears have all the luck - my room has its very own queen-sized bed with a 'pillow bar' so that i could select the pillow that is 'just right'. i almost felt like goldilocks ...
small seal would have loved the bed, as it's huge! she could have flipped around all night and i'd never have noticed.
of course, once i'd settled in and tested the bed, i had to get some work done. so i logged on to catch up on my bear mail (you can email me at naughty dot bear at hotmail dot com) and also growled sweet nothings down the blower to small seal, who honked back her relief that i'd got there safely.

but where am i? perhaps this will give you a clue...

i'm off on another adventure. well, actually i am on another adventure.
and i started my latest trip in style - making sure that i relaxed first in the frequent flyer lounge in Heathrow. but where do you think i'm heading? it's a 10,000mile round trip, so i'm told. any guesses? i'll tell you tomorrow!

gosh, it's been a real whirlwind since coming back from greenbelt. i've bearly had time to recover from a spell in the washer bearfore being herded off to sunnier climes.
but where am i headed to? you'll have to keep your eyes peeled to find out!
