bear on the beach

i didn't find anything bear sized at the beachsde market, so pottered down to the beach. i was posing quite happily for the camer and was waiting for my nutella gatherer to press the button - and then some cyclists got in the way. can you see me?

i love being out in the summer sunshine and topping up my tan (russet brown fur doesn't keep itself you know). small seal would have loved dipping her flippers in the sea. sadly she was at home as she didn't want to get sunburnt

Beachmarket

Brighton had many attractions, but this caught my beary eye: a beach market selling all kinds of stuff all over the sea front.
i had to go down and have a nose to see if there was any nutella up for grabs. Sadly, none :(

Back bear the seaside

Here I am at west pier - well, what's left of it. i had wanted to get my paws on to the pier itself, but it was all locked up. probably just as well as it doesn't look safe for bears like me.

it's lovely and hot and sunny here in brighton and i've been having a lovely time doing some sunbearing.

one of my nutella gatherers gets micro mart, a computer magazine. it's a bit bigger than me, but i do like getting my paws on it, as you can see above.

I'm a very excited bear as I've just learnt that my entry in the latest micro mart caption contest has won first prize for best in show!
i am now an officialy famous bear and you can see my name in print in the current edition.

Bear beside the seaside

Our final Skegness picture is of our little trip to the seaside - we enjoyed a stroll along the sand, an ice-cream cornet and some splashing about in some puddles!

all my duck chasing was in vain - the ducks knew which side their bread was buttered, and came right up to our chalet windows to say hello and see if we had anything to offer them...

Bear have you been?

Hello friends,
I hope you've missed me this week - sorry for not posting for ages and ages and ages, but i've come down with a nasty dose of bear flu since coming home from my latest adventure, not nice :(
Anyway, no guessing games this time! This is seal and myself posing just by the edge of Skegness. I found it bracing and seal was disapointed not to make it to the seal sanctuary to meet some friends. On the bright side, we have a wonderul time and I was spoilt rotten.
look out for my adventures over the coming days!

bear seats

I think bears should be used as inspiration for everything - i mean we're so cute, furry and cuddly. well, until the nutella runs out :(
i was rumuging through the racks of a lovely clothes shop when my beady eyes spied a bear stool! i tugged and pulled on my nutella gatherer's arm until they gave in and took a picture of me posing very proudly with the bear seat.
i think every home should have one!

well my big israel adventure - and my, it was big! - is finally over.
here i am on the plane on the way home watching the rain fall from the sky just bearfore we get into the sky.

After pretending to be a Roman centurion earlier in my Israel adventure, i had the chance to get a bear hug from the real deal! squeee!

fountain of delights

after wanting to share with you the excitement of the spa, i forgot that yesterday marked the 150th bearblog! can you believe that i've been on so many adventures?

here i am posing by a rather impressive fountain. i thought it was both impressive and a fountain, and worth posing in front of.

sadly, this was the last big adventure of israel as on the last day my nutella gatherers told me that i was being taken to tel aviv for a big trade show. which sounds really boring - but wait till you see what i got up to there!

wet paws

well, after all the excitement of the boat trip, i decided it was time to seek out some warmer water. and here i am working hard at relaxing. well, it had been an adventurous adventure: nearly falling down a mountain, pretending to be a centurion, getting some sea legs and, of course, enjoying some local plonk and enduring some plink, plink fizz for my fuzz-wuzzed head.
small seal is in this picture, but you can't see her as she's diving deep down in the hot spa. i'm just thinking about dipping my paws in, but let me tell you that the nice warm steam loosened my joints and worked a treat! i was very relaxed and a very happy bear indeed

Climb the rigging

hello friends.
while i was on the boat, i couldn't resist pretending to be a cabin bear - could hardly be a pirate captain, could i - small seal wouldn't sit on my shoulder crying 'pieces of eight!', would she?
so, here i am climbing the rigging and being look out. but there wasn't much to see, just plenty of birds and lots of water.

in case of emergency, use the exit!

Hi friends!
As my boat trip was a little longer than a short boat trip would be, i decided to take a walk around the deck. is the correct term a poop around the deck?
just to bear on the safe side, i had a quick check for the emergency exit - and here i am posing next to it. if you go out of the frying pan, you'll go straight into the fire as it's just the side of the boat. small seal, who was still paddling alongside the boat, promised she'd catch me in her flippers if the worst came to the worst. i just didn't want to get my fur wet.

a calm adventure across the lake

After all the excitement and fuzzyheadednessness of my little scrape, small seal and i decided to take a trip across lake galilee. as small seal had been on dry land for a few days, she decided to swim alongside the boat what i got on - i didn't fancy getting my paws wet. so here i am making myself comfy and hoping that the sea isn't too rough. after all that wine, i don't fancy being sea sick

i

well, after nearly falling off a mountain to certain doom, i needed a drink to recover. thankfully, there was some more excellent golan wine available: red this time.
after a few glasses (the bottles were bigger than a bear!) i was much happier if a little unsteady on my back paws.
in the morning i had a head like a sore bear. can't think why.

the bear went over the mountain

This was a scary moment: i nearly fell down a mountain!
here i was just admiring the view and looked down - my goodness, it was a long way down. and there were wild boars running around ready to chomp on naughty bears. oh my! the thought made me very giddy and i tumbled over the rail - almost to my doom.

but as you know, i'm still here to tell the tail, thankfully! my quick thinking nutella gatherer leaned over and saw that i was clinging to the edge of the cliff with my paws - but only just as i was declawed before we went to israel. male nutella gatherer leaned through the fence, and rescued me. my, my, my! that was a lucky escape.

the worst thing about all this was not falling off, but not having any nutella on hand to revive me. i was in shock for several hours, and some sweet chocolate/hazelnutty goodness would soon have brought me round again.

not my happiest adventure, but it's okay, i'm alright now!

if i had been a centurion, i would have stopped everyone and searched them for nutella - someone has to have them somewhere in israel.
small seal says if i was on guard duty and i heard someone coming at night i would shout 'who goes bear?' I'd rather just be grizzly at them instead.

Whine? No, wine!

All this siteseeing is quite wearisome, even for a small lovely bear like myself. So you can imagine my delight when we were taken to the Golan Heights Winery - and given some samples of their fizzy stuff. Sadly they didn't recommend any wines to go with nutella, but they do have a tasting room, which accommodates up to 60 people. at the end of the session, small seal assured me, it accommodates up to 120.

Meeting the local wildlife

Can you ribbit? here i am trying to get to the bottom of a very large frog that was in one of the many hotels i poked my head round for a spot of luncheon. small seal was in heaven as she was served fish at just about every meal while i got my paws on as much fresh humous as i possibly could, it almost made up for the lack of nutella :(

still, this frog let me sit on his head for a quick snap, but then he told me to hoppit.

potty time!

here i am helping the nice people at the roman tibearias village. i'm helping them restore some old pots wot they have found. they make us stick the pieces together like a big jigsaw puzzle, hold them in place with masking tape and then glue it all together. i had to be very careful in case the glue stuck to my fur. that wouldn't have been very nice. if i'd tried to lick it off, my furry paws would then get stuck to my furry mouth - yuk!

ps - did you get any valentine's today? small seal liked the card i sent her, it had two bears on the front having fun in front of a fireplace. couldn't find any cards with bears and seals on. maybe next year?

roman baths

do you remember the spa baths from the other day? well, here i am outside what would have been the roman version of the spa, just over the road from the modern spa complex in tibearias. there's not a lot of water in there now, thankfully, as i didn't fancy getting my fur wet again: just a bath once a year for bears! small seal was disapointed though, she was looking forward to flipping the water around with her flippers.
i wonder what the romans did for nutella?

bear necessities

some of you may be wondering what i packed to go away with - well on this trip, i took small seal, my pawsport and a change of fur. no nutella, no sun lotion, not even the kitchen sink. you could say i travelled with just the bear necessities!

i spent a lot of time in israel searching high and low for some nutella - did i find any? well, there was none here. despite being in the remains of an old roman town in tiberias (after all, nutella is italian) there was nothing to be seen here. but there was a marvellous looking cave to climb into, which you can see in the hill to the right of me!

spatastic!

it was a surprise to see that there were so many spas in israel: i must have been taken to at least four during the short adventure, almost one a day. this is me snapped outside a natural hot spring in tibearias - you can the fountains spraying my ears!
This was snapped on a lovely warm day as well, about 18C - a far cry from the snow and things that i've spent the day avoiding.

Bear's new adventure

Hello friends, did you miss me?
I've had a fantastic week visiting somewhere i've never set paws on before - israel.
sadly, i couldn't spy any nutella, so as you can imagine, i spent the whole week pining for some chocolate-hazelnutty goodness. but i did make up for it by scoffing three puddings at every meal - tee hee hee!
over the next few days, i'll be showing off all the exciting pictures small seal took of me during my travels. i'm starting with one of my favourites, which is me and the view over lake galilee. it was lovely and calm and very warm. i'd loved to have stopped for a paddle, but my nutella gatherers wanted to get back to the hotel for dinner. and who am i to refuse some food?

A new Bear adventure

Now that i know i can climb trees again - as you can see above - i know that i'm over my terrible spots. that means i'm ready to go on a new adventure!
my nutella gatherers have packed a case for me and small seal, fished out our passports and dug out some nutella and pilchards (not in the same jar - yuk!) for the journey. and we're off on our travels. look out for my new adventure next week!

Bear up a tree

It's been good to get out and about again - feeling the wind russle my fur and the cold draught on my nutella sandwiches. here i am doing one of my favourite things in the whole wide world ever. yes, i'm climbing a tree! yippee! it wasn't a big tree, i wanted to flex my tree climbing mussles before tackling a proper climb, but it was fun nonetheless.

A message from poorly bear

hello friends, the good news is my spots are starting to go down and i've managed to snuffle at a little nutella. i've even managed to get my paws on to the keyboard to say hello to you all again. the bad news is that i'm still a poorly bear with a fuzzy wuzzy head. this has nearly knocked the stuffing out of me :(

it's just as well that small seal has been able to keep you amused. hopefully it'll not be long before i'll be pawsed for action on another exciting adventure

Oh I do like to be beside the seal-side

Hello, me again. Bear is still not well so I thought I'd share another picture of my visit to the seaside. Here I am sizing up the waves, but I decided it was a little too choppy for a swim. Besides, I didn't want to get my new bow wet - do you like it? I wore it to the party I went to with Bear and liked it so much I wanted to keep wearing it. It's just my colour!

jolly boating weather

while naughty bear is recovering from his spotty pox, i had an adventure by myself and wanted to tell you about it. hope you don't mind.
being a seal, I like being near the sea, so i went for a visit to the seaside. it was very windy and the waves looked a little bit big for a small seal like me to swim in, so i found a boat to sit in to watch the waves instead

great fun and no nutella or bears in sight.

I've been having a wonderful time enjoying a new year party with friends of my nutella gatherers. Here you can see me singing auld lang syne just after the bells! I think I growled it out quite nicely.
