Merry Christmas!

Small seal and I hope you have a very merry christmas, with lots of nutella in your stocking and plenty more under the tree.
sadly no snow for bears and seals to run around in this year, but this is a picture of me enjoying a snowstorm earlier in the year. i had to keep a hat on so my ears didn't get too cold - brrrr!

small seal says happy christmas

hello! i've stuck my flipper out and insisted that bear lets me write an entry.
i'm really excited now that christmas is so nearly here! i've been a busy little seal, flipping from sea to sea, trying to find that elusive gift. in the end, i think nothing says 'i love you' better than a can of pilchards in tomato sauce.
but don't tell my pilchard gatherer - she won't know till christmas day!

Bear climbs Christmas tree

as you know, one of my favourite things is to climb trees - here's a shot of me clambering up a christmas tree to see what i can see. sadly i couldn't find any nutella hiding on the ground, but i did get to spot the bald patch of one of my nutella gatherers - he looks a little headbear. i thank you

A time for giving!

Who doesn't like receiving presents at Christmas? i was rather surprised when small dog gave me a present: could it be a bonio, or would he have saved me some nutella instead of licking the jar clean like he normally does?

i hope there's lots of nutella under my christmas tree - soon find out!

Countdown to Christmas

Hello friends!
long time no blog and all that. it's been chaos lately and small seal and i have been keeping out of the way! we've starting to get excited now that christmas is nearly here. here's a picture of me inspecting the christmas lights last year in london; we've not had a chance to go this time as our nutella gatherers have been busy unpacking. haven't had a decent bear hug for ages :(

hope you're having fun,

My nutella gatherers are starting to get back to normal and that means it'll not be long bearfore i'm sharing my latest adventure with you. in the meantime, here's a picture of me having fun at a playground. i was a very brave bear climbing up the slide all by myself - it was great fun going down!

Water treat

One final post from the Malverns - i couldn't leave without sampling the water. this was despite the warnings that it wasn't necessarily fit for humans to drink. no mention of nutella-loving bears.

i hope you enjoyed my little adventures up the hill. it seems so long ago now, but i've been very busy indeed over the past week or so - my nutella gatherers are taking me to their new bear cave later this week. this means that i'll not be posting on my blog for a couple of weeks. but you can still look back on my old adventures if you get withdrawl symptoms.

small seal and i will let you know about some of our moving adventures later this week, so keep coming back and keep telling your friends to come and see us!

Room with a view

hello friends,
this is a not the bestest of bear pictures ever, but we thought you'd like to see the view we had from our hotel window. you can't see it here, but right next to the hotel is the malvern priory. it's all big - a bit too big for a small bear.

Sniff, sniff

While out walking around the malvern town, I stopped to sniff this spectacular bunch of blooms. Not bad for an autumnal bouquet.

all this scampering about the malvern hills gave me tired paws. so i decided to hitch a lift. thankfully my nutella gatherers allowed me to ride bearback for a while. i had a bear nap and dreamt of more naughty adventures - like hiding...

bears and their caves

hello friends,
on my way up to the very toppermost toppy top of the malverns, i found a cavelet. it was not big enough to be a proper cave, but it was big enough for a naughty bear to hide in. her you can see me settling in for a quick snooze. thankfully, i don't hibearnate as much as other bears. just a long snooze during the day topped up with a long snooze during the night. preferably in a bear hug!

Bear snacks

After an exciting slide down the hill, i could feel my furry stomach rumbling. and like any good bear, i know that's when i need to get my paws on some grub. i know the call of the wild!
sadly, my nutella gatherers had forgotten to get some nutella, but they let me scoff these bear-sized pringles. hmmmn... not as nice and chocolatey as my favourite spread.

Great for climbing

if there's one thing i like almost as much as scoffing nutella straight from the jar, it's climbing trees. and when the view is as spectacular as this one, it's worth it when you reach the top branch as you can see for miles and miles and miles. sadly i couldn't see any stray nutella jars anywhere and they didn't have any in our hotel at breakfast time :(

small seal stayed in the hotel room, as she didn't fancy climbing the malvern hills: she fancied saving her energy for when we went to the swimming baths. sadly, they didn't allow cameras in so you'll have to imagine her happily splashing down the waterslide. if anyone wants to draw the happy moment, then email me your pictures! naughty.bear at hotmail dot com.

big bear bed!

here's a quick shot of the bed in our temporary bear cave. as you can see, it's a big bed for a naughty bear and a small seal. she was happy as she could flip around from one side to another quite happily. i was happy because it meant i could hide my jars of nutella from my nutella gatherers. they'd never think of looking in such a large bed.

no one has guessed where we are yet - do you know? a virtual bear hug to the winners!

Bear mail

Dear naughty bear (and all your friends),
as you are traveling a lot, here is one of my best traveling advices:
try and find a baby - he / she will be outside quite a lot and you don't need to organise anything or - even worse - use your own paws. I am staying close to Colja which gives me a great deal of adventures trips, e.g. to farms, into city centre and even to shows.... you might want to think about this.

100th Post: where's bear now?

hello friends! small seal and i are back from our latest adventure - and this is our 100th post.
because we wanted to create a bit of pomp and circumstance to the occasion, i thought i'd start off not with a shot of us settling into the hotel cave (which was very nice, and small seal had lots of fish at dinner) but with me being given one of my favourite things: a bear hug.

the person is an enigma: dressed from head to toe in silver, he gave me the silent treatment too. Still, a bear hug is a bear hug.

Can you guess who's hugging me and where i am?

there are times when a bear needs a beer. and this was one of them.

bearburger to go

I was out having a stroll with small seal today when I passed a pub and i saw this great offer: a bear and a burger for £5. At least, that's what I thought it said. The nice man behind the bar gave me a hard stare but served me anyway. It took me some time to munch my way through it but small seal helped - she particularly liked the ketchup. I would have prefered nutella spread on my burger - what about you?

Is this any way to treat a bear?

honestly, my nutella gatherers have got some cheek. i think i should report them to the rspcss&nb (the royal society for the prevention of cruelty to small seals and naughty bears).
hung by the ears! oh the indignity. hung by the flippers! oh the shame. everyone could see small seal's belly.
i normally like sunbathing, but not suspended in thin air by my furry ears.

bear mail

Dear Naughty Bear, Your friends as Bears Unlimited said that they wanted to know more about me, so I thought that I would send you another photo. This time I am on the boat, which was on Derwent Water. The boat went all the way round stopping at lots of places on the way. I am such a loved giraffe that there are actually two of me, but we are never ever seen together, so as not to confuse my chief giraffe keeper, as she is only 4 months old and thinks that there is only 1 Raffeee. I go on lots of adventures. In fact I go out most days, but very often I have to travel with the smelly nappies! Lots of Love Raffeee

Bear's big washing adventure!

The one thing about going to a muddy greenbelt is that it you can get your paws rather dirty and your fur becomes smelly. so when small seal and i got back, our nutella gatherers promised us a special treat to help us clean up.
we were rather surprised when they put us inside this strange contraption, and covered in soapy water. At first we thought it would be alright, but then everything span round rather fast.
we both got very dizzy and even small seal felt like a bear with a sore head when it had finished. however, our indignity was not over yet. Our nutella gatherers had another, slightly embarassing, treat left for us...

Hungry bears

Well, my time at Greenbelt is finally at an end. But I had a fantastic time and met lots of new friends. Including this delightful non-nutella gatherer who sent me on the way with some fish and chips from the chippy. Yummy!
It beat what my nutella gatherer had from the grande bouffe - some half-baked cold potato/white wine and fancy sausage monstrosity. I did think about offering to go and growl on the stall holders, but the chips were down and i had to scoff 'em.

don't worry, i let small seal enjoy some fish. she got stuck in and gave them her seal of approval.

and with that, we were strapped into the bearmobile and driven home - where we immediately prepared for a new adventure...

Chocolate!

mmmmnn! more chocolate than a bear can handle was on display at greenbelt. sadly no nutella like substances, but i'm still a sucker for great chocolate.
the stall run by divine chocolate had a chocolate fountain, but my nutella gatherers wouldn't let me put my paws into it in case i made a mess. they said my fur would get all matted and they would have trouble washing it out. honestly! don't they know anything? i'd just lick it off and it wouldn't be a problem.

still, those nice people at divine let me try a sample or several of their new dark chocolate. and best of all, they tell me that the people who make the cocoa beans from which it was made get paid a proper price for it. it's called something like fairtrade. i hate thinking that my nutella gatherers are eating chocolate that actually cost someone something to make.
you can read more about it by clicking on this link here

Time for tiny tea

No visit to greenbelt would be complete without a visit to the marvellous tiny tea tent. it's tiny, it does tea and it's in a tent. i really can't think how they got their name.
they do marvellous hot chocolates but sadly they were too far away from all the stuff that bears wanted to see and do for me to spend too much time here.

small seal was wondering if i had got too fat, so to prove her wrong i slipped myself into a hole created by the gatepost and balanced on a kettle to hold myself up. having proved to her that this bear is cuddly rather than enourmous, i then went off to make a nutella biscuit sandwich to cheer myself up!

Here's some fan mail for you to enjoy

Hi Bear

We see you’ve had a busy weekend setting up an email account and making changes to your site. We suffered Greenbelt withdrawal symptoms but have just been onto Amazon to order a Martyn Joseph CD and a Cara Dillon one so that should cheer us up when they come.

When we get our Broadband working again at home we’ll send you an email from our own account. Bears unlimited is our trading company which we belong to with all the rest of our owners’ bears. We are very industrious bears and all have a role to play e.g. as we have so much travelling experience we’re tour guides. We’ll tell you more about what we do in another email.

For now we just thought we would send you a piccie of ourselves enjoying a bit of Greek sunshine on a sailing holiday last year. Yorkie is the little one and you can always tell me (George) as I can’t help looking a bit smug.

Bye for now.

time for a climb

one of the problems of being at a music festival is that you spend a lot of time sitting on the ground. so when i saw something to climb, i had to take advantage of it. with no trees, it was the best i could do. sadly i still couldn't see any nutella from this high point :(

i had my nutella gatherers worried as they couldn't find me at first, but they soon spotted me when i started to swing as i got higher up the ladder.
